Arianespace: August 2014 Archives

Following the major anomaly that occurred on August 22, 2014 during the Soyuz ST mission carrying two satellites in the Galileo constellation, Arianespace announced today, in conjunction with the European Space Agency (ESA) and the European Commission, the appointment of an independent inquiry commission.

An investigation is underway after yesterday's launch by Arianespace of a Soyuz rocket which left its twin payload of Europe's fifth and six Galileo GPS satellites in a lower wrong orbit.

Preparations for Arianespace's next Ariane 5 mission marked an important milestone this week with the vehicle's transfer from the Spaceport's Launcher Integration Building - where it was assembled, to the Final Assembly Building - where the dual-passenger payload will be installed.
