Eutelsat Communications (NYSE Euronext Paris: ETL) announces the successful launch of its EUTELSAT 3B satellite by a Zenit-3SL rocket operated by Sea Launch AG from the ocean-based Odyssey Launch Platform in the Pacific Ocean.

Sea Launch AG today announced the resignation of its President, Kjell Karlsen effective February 28, 2014, to pursue other opportunities outside space industry. After his departure, the Company's senior executive team will carry out Mr. Karlsen's former duties and responsibilities. Mr. Karlsen has been with Sea Launch since 1999, serving as the President since 2008 and member of its Board of Directors since 2010.

Approximately 40 seconds after the launch from the Odyssey Sea Launch platform in the pacific, the Zenit-3SL rocket carrying the Intelsat 27 failed. The launch was at 1:57 a.m. EST. The reason for failure is unknown at this time and according to Intelsat, Sea Launch will convene a Failure Review Oversight Board to look into the mishap.

Sea Launch announced today that it has released preliminary "Quick Look" payload unit (PLU) telemetry information to Intelsat S.A. and Space Systems Loral on June 8, 2012.
