Loral Space & Communications Inc. (NASDAQ: LORL) today announced that the trial court on August 8, 2014 issued decisions on the post-trial motions filed in the breach of contract and patent infringement lawsuit brought by ViaSat, Inc. (ViaSat) against Loral and Loral's former subsidiary, Space Systems/Loral, LLC (SSL).

Satellite company Space Systems/Loral LLC attacked a motion for permanent injunction filed by ViaSat Inc., saying the company that won a $283 million jury verdict for patent infringement in April hadn't established a record showing it fit the bill for injunctive relief, according to a response filed Friday in California federal court.

ViaSat Inc. (NASDAQ: VSAT), an innovator in satellite and other wireless networking systems and services, announced financial results for the fourth quarter and fiscal year 2014. ViaSat's fiscal year 2014 results reflected strong growth. Revenues increased 21% to $1.4 billion and Adjusted EBITDA grew 35% to $221.2 million compared to last year. Net income attributable to ViaSat (VSAT) common stockholders rose to $0.44 per share on a non-GAAP diluted basis, or a loss of $0.21 per share on a diluted GAAP basis - compared to fiscal year 2013 net income of $0.02 and a loss of $0.94 per share, respectively.

Exede® Business is a new service designed to provide small and medium-sized businesses with high-speed satellite Internet, a generous data allowance, priority maintenance and 24x7 U.S.-based customer support. This new business Internet service, from ViaSat Inc. (NASDAQ: VSAT), is available in all or portions of more than 40 states covered by the ViaSat (VSAT)-1 satellite, the world's highest capacity satellite.

Xplornet Communications Inc. has contracted with ViaSat Inc. (NASDAQ:VSAT) for all of the residential capacity covering Canada on the ViaSat (VSAT)-2 satellite. Already offering high-speed satellite Internet on ViaSat-1, Xplornet will be able to offer faster speeds and more data throughput for its customers with the doubling of bandwidth efficiency expected from ViaSat-2, which is scheduled for a mid-2016 launch. The commitment is for the life of the satellite and the value is up to $275 million depending on options.
