HAMPTON, Va. - The president and executive director of the Commonwealth Center for Advanced Manufacturing will present, "CCAM: A Game Changing Advanced Manufacturing Research Model," on Tuesday, Nov. 6, at 2 p.m. in the Reid Conference Center here at NASA's Langley Research Center.
The head of CCAM, David Lohr, will discuss how the research-based collaboration between the University of Virginia, Virginia Tech, Virginia State University and a group of global manufacturing companies is a game-changing model for growing the advanced manufacturing sector in the U.S. and globally.

The same evening at 7:30, Lohr will present a similar talk for the general public at the Virginia Air & Space Museum in downtown Hampton. The presentation is free and no reservations are required.
Manufacturers join CCAM as members and guide research with both university faculty and CCAM scientists in surface engineering and manufacturing systems. CCAM's 60,000 square-foot research facility is located in Prince George County, Va., adjacent to Rolls-Royce's Crosspointe Campus where the company currently fabricates jet engine components.
Prior to joining CCAM, Lohr was vice president of business development for the Virginia Biotechnology Research Park and executive director of the park's business incubation programs. He is a founding member and past chairman of the Virginia Tech Chemical Engineering Department Advisory Board, and is a member of the Virginia Tech College of Engineering Committee of 100 and College of Engineering Advisory Board.
Lohr has a bachelors of science degree in Chemical Engineering from Virginia Tech and a masters in business administration from the Williams College of Business at Xavier University.
